Welcome to the Eriskay Golf Club website!

A Particular Welcome to Visitors!

This is a Golf Club with a difference! To appreciate just how different, you should probably start with the "History of the Club" page...... And, if after reading that you still would like to be considered for Membership, here's where to find more information.

The Eriskay Golf Club "Whisky Galore" Opens

The Major golfing events of the year - our two infamous Whisky Galore Opens - have been played and glorious winners emerged. In a very-well attended Seniors Open, L Chancellor of Inverness Golf Club took the scratch prize with an excellent 69. Eriskay's own R H Stewart was a near second. Of the 0-14 handicaps, D Semple  of Tain took the prize with an excellent 65, just ahead of J Robertson (Blairgowrie) with 67. In the 15-28 range, I H Macrae, on 72, just pipped N Power (both from Torvean) by one stroke.  The Gents Open attracted a very large field, with M Ferries of Tain emerging as the Scratch winner (74) just ahead of - you've guessed it - Eriskay's own R H Stewart, again pipped at the post. R McKenzie continued the good results for the Tain club with a fine 71 in the 0-14 handicap range, with another Tain member, P Austion, carding 73 for second place. Meantime,  J Mackenzie of Golspie just beat off a challenge from fellow Golspie member K Stewart to take the 15-28 prize with 73.   A full list of prizewinners is available here.

We are very grateful to Tain Golf Club for hosting the event and to their admninistrative staff who assisted with admin work related to the Opens.

Our grateful thanks also go to all who took part in each Open - you are continuing to help us grow the Whisky Galore Opens to a level rarely seen by other "Amateur" Opens in Scotland. Make a note NOW to check this website for next year's Opens dates.

Club Championship (sponsored by M & J Joinery)

The first round of the Club Championship will be played at the excellent Edzell Course on 4 September with the second (final) round, played the following day on an Open Qualifying Course - Downfield Golf Course (Dundee). A collection of brave and determined competitiors are currently polishing their drivers and scraping the muck from the grooves of their irons in preparation for the drama that is.....the Eriskay Club Championships.......more later! (If I survive...).

Politician Trophy - 27 September 2014 (Sponsored by ISFT Ltd)

Online entry to this, the penultimate competition of the season, is now open. Grateful thanks to the competition's sponsors - ISFT Ltd Scottish seafood exports.

The Belhaven Best Competition

An outstanding performance by our Club's representatives in the Belhaven Best Qualifer at Aboyne - Phillip Bannerman and Charlie Anderson - saw them come 2nd (from a field of 55 pairs) with an excellent nett 63. They only lost out to the first-placed Portlethen pair by a poorer inward half.  They now go forward to the grand final, to be held at The Roxburghe on 19 September 2014. Our very best wishes for the final, chaps!

New Members Welcome (well, only a few.....!)

We are very pleased to announce that this year we will be opening up Membership to a small number of new Members, which will include Lady Members. As with last year, we want to "walk before we run" so will again keep our Membership numbers relatively low this year, while we make sure our systems operate satisfactorily. In particular, we will be extending our Handicapping system to include Ladies - we would have done this last year, when the Club was first formally constituted, but time ran away with us with all the new things we had to complete in our first year of full operation - apologies Ladies!

Our annual subscription remains unchanged again this year, at £80 for the full season. (Yes - that is indeed Eighty Pounds Sterling! What other Golf Club has fees so low?

We have calculated - very roughly - that each of our Members gets in excess of £500-worth of golf value for their £80 subscription. And that excludes the cash prizes we award for every one of our competitions, these only made possible by the huge generosity of our Sponsors.

Do you know of any other golf club offering such a bargain deal? I don't think so.....! Go to our Club Membership page for more details or speak or email to Willie Rusk (01463 794433) today to discuss membership. But you need to do it quickly....places are limited....!

Club Competitions Sponsorship

We are delighted to advise that we already have 6 generous sponsors in place, each having agreed to sponsor an individual Club Competition. But we need more sponsors please! It need not cost a huge amount to sponsor a Competition. If you might be able to sponsor one, or if you know of a Company or Business which might be interested in doing so, please speak to Willie Rusk.

Lotsa Photies

Your website editor is sincerely apologetic that he has done almost nowt with the numerous photos taken at Club competitions throughout last season. This is largely to do with lack of time but I will get them sorted some day!

Meantime, if any of you have photos in any way connected with the Club, please email me to let me know (but do not attach them to the message at that stage). I can deal with any type of photo, from digital ones, to old-fashioned prints, even slides and the condition does not need to be all that good - I can usually improve them.

Members' Pages - Login Password

Members can get access to additional pages if they login correctly. Use the "Login" tab at the top left of this page, choose "Member" from the dropdown menu, and enter your password - simple as that. You do of course need a password to be able to do that - send me an email and I shall email you back your password.
