Welcome to the Eriskay Golf Club website!
A Particular Welcome to Visitors for 2016 Season!
This is a Golf Club with a difference! If you are new to this site and would like to appreciate just how different, you should probably start with the "History of the Club" page...... And, if after reading that you still would like to be considered for Membership, here's where to find more information.
And We're off!
The first competition of the season - the April Stableford, took place in "changeable" weather, on 9 April. "It's That Man Again" (one for older readers) Fairway Bob, who took first place with one of our new Members, Kevin Ross, just holding off Charlie Anderson for second place.
Bonnie Prince Charlie Shield - sponsored by Culloden Service Station.
The next competition -, the Bonnie Prince Charlie Shield - one of our many prestigious annual competitions - takes place on Saturday 7 May. We are delighted and hugely grateful to Jimmy Christie, Culloden Service Station, for again offering to sponsor this competition - Members are invited to show their own appreciation of his generosity by booking their next car service there. .
As an extra incentive to enter the competition, the winner will represent Eriskay Whisky Galore Golf Club at Castle Stuart on 20 June, with the possibility of qualifying for the Pro-Am at Castle Stuart to be held before the Scottish Open. A massive opportunity for some competent golfer (excludes me...).
We were saddened to learn recently of the sudden death of Gary Stevenson, the chef from Tain Golf Club, who paassed away last year. Our Members' condolences have been passed to his widow, to whom we shall be donating half the proceeds from our scheduled Race Night (see below).
Get your diaries out and make a note of our annual Race Night, to be held on 11 June (venue to be notified shortly). This is an important event in our calendar, as it helps us raise the funds we need to keep the Club running through the year. Also, as I mention above, this year we will donate half the proceeds to the widow of the late Gary Stevenson. So - we should be very grateful if you can mark the date in your diary in LARGE BLACK INK (that's Bold Font for those of you with electronic diaries!) - we need your presence!
Welcome to New Members!
We really do pride ourselves on being a welcoming Club, making new Members feel immediately at home when they reach the first tee in one of our competitions. This year we have so far had a good influx of new Members - I shall save their blushes by not naming them individually - but look out for some new faces at our next competitions.
As ever, we are greatly indebted to our Sponsors, who help the Club throughout the Season with their valuable contributions. We would ask our members, and others reading our website, to check out the pages on our Sponsors - you may well find the services they are offering are of use to you. And if YOU would like to discuss sponsoring the Club this season, please give Willie Rusk a call.
Please note the Competitions List (available here) has now been updated with details of the remaining competitions which had still to be scheduled. Memebrs should go and check the new details, to make sure they have the dates in their diaries.
The Race to Castle Stuart
This year, we plan to run an Order of Merit competition, culminating in a grand prize (details of which are currently safely guarded from the paparazzi) which is likely to have something to do with Castle Stuart (that's all the clues being given out at the moment). More details here sometime soon!
Members' Pages - Login Password
I have this continuing hope that one of these days a club member will volunteer to take over the Members' Pages part of this website. There's nothing difficult in managing the pages, but I simply cannot get time to develop them. If you can use word-processor software - eg Microsoft Word or similar - you can very easily take on the Members' pages! Anyone interested, drop me an email please!
Members can get access to additional pages if they login correctly. Use the "Login" tab at the top left of this page, choose "Member" from the dropdown menu, and enter your password - simple as that. You do of course need a password to be able to do that - send me an email and I shall email you back your password. But - don't get too excitied! The content of the Members' Pages has not yet been properly developed - some day someone will hopefully get round to it!
